Hello I'm David Campbell, and I offer counselling and psychotherapy in Epsom, Surrey and online for both individuals and couples, giving you a reliable, trusting, and confidential place in which to be seen, heard, and explore the issues you are facing right now. My practice allows you a place to speak openly and get to the bottom of whatever issues may be troubling you at your own pace, from burnout to depression, stress, overthinking, anxiety and challenging relationships at home or in the work environment.
If you are thinking about seeking a counsellor in Epsom, Ashtead, Guildford, Wimbledon, Kingston, Raynes Park, Banstead, Leatherhead, London or come from further afield and wish to receive support over a secure online platform, feel free to get in touch and we can set up an initial consultation.
As a registered and professionally trained member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), I always work in accordance with their ethical, confidential, and professional guidelines. I am also a registered and fully verified member of The Counselling Directory and accredited by Psychology Today and a regular contributor to their published articles. I work with people from all walks of life.
I offer outcome based therapy for complex based issues like depression, anxiety, addiction, low self-esteem, overthinking, grief and loss and relationship challenges whether that is at home or work. We can only truly move past them by understanding where they originate from and deal with them as they present in your current life. This involves looking at past experiences and the emotions associated with them in a compassionate, empathic, non-judgemental, curious way, creating the right conditions for you to get to the source of your problem and see how certain triggers from the past directly inform how you think, feel, and behave in the present moment.
I work across many different disciplines and draw from several therapeutic orientations to find the approach that works best for you. The work I do is adapted to your specific needs, whatever they may be, in an empathic, confidential, secure space where we can stimulate "change through conversation and take action."
Along with stress, depression and anxiety, which many people struggle silently with in their lives at home or in their workplace, I am also here to provide counselling and psychotherapy in Epsom, Surrey, and online for issues like low self-esteem, relationship issues, bereavement, or support for those living with diabetes or people who have experienced loss through suicide. I can also support people who feel trapped in their career and looking to make a fresh start.

Bereavement, Loss and Grief
You should never feel like you have to cope with a loss on your own. You may feel that you need to deal with it by not involving others or just shut those sad feelings down for another day. Grief is a complicated, deeply personal process, and it is important to recognise that there is no right way to grieve and there is no set time. You may be feeling anger, sadness, frustration, denial, confusion, or nothing at all. Whatever your emotions may be, I will work closely with you as you process them in a safe, strictly confidential space.
Anxiety
Many people in life including the corporate sector live with anxiety on a daily basis. You may feel like you can’t talk about it, and that you have to live with it on your own, but I am here to help you bring these difficult emotions out into the open and and explore them in your own time and in your own way. Only by engaging with your anxiety – examining where it comes from and its triggers – can you truly allow yourself to move to a place of greater peace and confidence in yourself. You may be surprised how much better you can feel after you have had the opportunity to share your current challenges.
Low Self-Esteem
Low self-esteem is a widespread problem for people generally in today’s life with high expectations being placed on people influenced through social media and peer groups. Even people who are successful and lead seemingly good lives often feel like they aren’t good enough. This is because we base our values around external things, such as how much money we make or our relationships with others, which ultimately may make us feel inadequate in some way. By working together I can give you a positive, friendly environment where you can feel empowered again and support you in reclaiming your own innate self-worth.
Relationships
Relationships are extremely complex, and I help both individuals and couples work through relationship issues of all kinds. Both partners can talk in confidence, assessing what has gone wrong in the relationship and how to change things for the better. It can help couples to learn more about each other's needs and communicate with each other better. This could include conflicts in your workspace, problems in your family, or coping with a separation from a partner, infidelity, moving in together, planning a family, taking on stepchildren and retirement. I also have experience of working with the LGBTQ+ community. No matter what problem you may be going through, we can jointly work together, and explore how best to support your unique set of circumstances.
Addiction
You may feel like you are powerless over your addiction. Clients often say I just cannot stop and it’s like a voice in my head telling me to do more. Whether it’s alcohol, drugs, gambling, social media, or anything else. It is common for people to beat themselves up about their addiction, but remember that addiction is never a choice, and always a natural response to stress and other factors. In a way that’s personalised to you, we will, in a compassionate and curious way, and at your own pace, explore the “why” behind your addiction and work towards a place where you don’t need to keep resorting to certain maladaptive behaviours as a way of making yourself feel better.
Self-Harm
My practice gives you a private, non-judgemental space to discuss the reasons behind your self-harm, taking time to examine the emotions associated with this behaviour and learning what brings you to this place. I know that talking about this subject is difficult, but hiding away from the problem only makes it worse with repetitive patterns and feelings of huge anxiety. This is your time to work through this issue safely and at your pace.
Diabetes Support
I have particular expertise in Diabetes and its associated challenges, such as denial, fear, anger, or depression. As someone who has been a Type 1 Diabetic for 50 years, I know precisely how it feels to live with these problems, and I am here to help anyone struggling with this element of their life – from early onset Diabetes through to later diagnosis and Type 2 Diabetes which has its own set of individual challenges . I also provide dedicated support to family members and partners of those living with Diabetes.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and cost £75 for individuals and £85 for couples. Sessions are paid in advance via Bank transfer or cash.
I fully support the NHS and as such offer concessionary rates for NHS staff and emergency services personnel. I also offer special rates for students including counselling students.
Private Medical and Insurance
I am happy to work with clients who pay me directly and then reclaim their session fees from their respective private insurance companies like AXA, Aviva, BUPA, Saga and Cigna. Prior approval will be required according to your companies policy.
I operate from a private study in my home - a welcoming, peaceful, and quiet secluded space where you can feel safe and speak about your issues in confidence and in your own time. Free and safe parking is available.
I also work online using a secure platform, and have found that working this way precipitates an extremely effective working method, allowing even the most anxious clients the opportunity to undertake counselling sessions with confidence. These sessions are a convenient alternative for those unable to attend face-to-face sessions. They are always conducted with complete confidentiality and with your well-being being one of the key objectives. .

I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel difficult at first, so you are welcome to give me a free, no-obligation call to ask any questions before we arrange your initial assessment session. This first call lasts 30 minutes and mainly involves getting an overall picture of what brought you to me in the first place, what you want to focus on, and devise a way of working that makes sense to you ahead of scheduling weekly sessions.
People tend to ignore their needs and park their feelings which ultimately makes their situation worse, but I am here to give you a space to focus on your issues, feel seen and heard, and receive the personalised help you need. My counselling and psychotherapy in Epsom and the wider Surrey area, and online is adapted to your needs, allowing you to move forward with greater clarity and confidence in the future. I offer long term outcome driven therapy as well as time-limited therapy, which is focused therapy around an agreed number of sessions. For time limited therapy we would agree a specific goal to work towards during our weekly sessions

Have you ever found yourself sacrificing your own needs and desires in order to please others? Or perhaps you constantly feel responsible for the happiness and well-being of those around you, to the point where you neglect your own self-care?
Dealing with the emotional impact of a life-limiting illness is an immense challenge that can bring forth a range of complex emotions. In such circumstances, grief and loss become intertwined with the daily realities of living with the illness.
Grief is a complex and challenging emotion that everyone experiences at some point in their lives. However, for children, grief can be especially difficult to navigate.
Grief is the process that we go through when we try to make sense of something we have lost. As discussed in my last blog, there are many different types of grief and loss.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on 07710 688016 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential.
